In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Cyclone Tracy, the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory (MAGNT) is excited to announce a significant refresh of the permanent Cyclone Tracy gallery. The ambitious new exhibition, titled ‘Cyclone Tracy – 50 Years On’ is set to showcase the resilience of Darwin and its people following one of Australia’s worst natural disasters.
Cyclone Tracy, a defining moment in Darwin’s history, resulted in the loss of 66 lives, 70% of buildings destroyed and the displacement of a significant portion of the city’s population. The 50th anniversary serves as a poignant moment to reflect on the evolution of Darwin and the enduring impact of this disaster on its residents. It is also an opportunity to remind people of the profound resilience of Territories.
We look forward to welcoming you back to this much-loved exhibition from Saturday December 7th, 2024.
This is permanent exhibition.
