The 25th of December 2024 marks 50 years since Cyclone Tracy hit Darwin. Cyclone Tracy is still one of Australia’s most devastating natural events and retains a place in the psyche of locals and survivors.
To commemorate, City of Darwin and the Northern Territory Government is hosting a free event to recognise the significant impact Cyclone Tracy had on the community.
The 50th Anniversary of Cyclone Tracy is a chance to reflect on Darwin’s resilience and spirit.
The event will be held at the Darwin Ski Club on Saturday 30 November with gates opening at 8:30am. Formalities will begin strictly at 9:00am. Post formalities, there will be a free community morning tea.
Numbers are limited but the event will be livestreamed here.
